Compendium of Domestic Incidents – Sarah McDermott
This book, from the outside chemise and through to every page, incorporates multiple techniques and materials. It is well designed and executed so that what, in another artist’s hands, could have become a confusing array, is instead an engaging presentation of the prose poetry of Joanna Ruocco and the quirky drawings of Sarah McDermott. A variety of paper weights, colors and textures are bound across the spine. The binding allows the book to open flat so that no detail is lost within the illustrations that go across the spread.
Sarah McDermott currently lives in New York City where she is a Van Lier Scholar at the Center for Book Arts. She makes books and prints as The Kidney Press.
The edition is of 35 copies, the price $250
