Abecedarian Gallery is located at 910 Santa Fe Dr, #101, Denver, CO 80204, at the north end of the 910 Arts Building. Our street entrance is just south of Swift’s Diner.
Gallery hours are 1-5pm Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, First & Third Fridays open ’til 8pm.
Abecedarian Gallery opened in November 2007, in a small space at 900 Santa Fe. Open only 2 days a week, the gallery’s early days were successful enough to prompt gallery owner Alicia Bailey to move into more spacious (and permanent) quarters in August 2008 – a storefront space at 910 Santa Fe. The gallery originally focused only on artists’ books and prints and continues this as primary focus.
The more spacious and accessible quarters allow the exhibition of a broader range of work in a main gallery space. There is continuing emphasis on works that somehow relate to the book form (e.g. featuring sequencing, repetition, interactivity) and/or a combination of a variety of sources and materials in individual works.
Owner Alicia Bailey is a Denver based artist whose work in the book arts has received national recognition. Her work is in dozens of private and public collections worldwide. As independent curator, juror, visiting artist and book-arts instructor, Alicia works steadily at promoting the book and print arts both regionally and nationally.
Oh, the book art here! If ever I’m near Santa Fe your gallery will be my first stop – your blog and website will have to be my inspiration until then.
